About Us

This project focuses on the Philippine National Artists because SHS Arts and Design students revealed low familiarity and limited appreciation for National Artists due to passive, memorization-based teaching methods that emphasize recall over interpretation.

To address this, the project utilizes an analog card game, an instructional website, and a reflective journal as interactive tools that immerse students in activities centered on interpreting the essence of National Artists’ works across different creative mediums. These platforms encourage users to move beyond memorization by responding through their own creative outputs, grounded in personal interpretation and understanding of the artists’ cultural intentions.

The need for this approach is supported by research findings indicating that students develop deeper appreciation and understanding when engaged in creative, participatory, and context-driven learning.

By combining game-based interaction, guided resources, and reflective practice, the project provides SHS Arts and Design students with a more meaningful and impactful way to interpret, respond to, and connect with Filipino identity through the works of National Artists.
